The Grainger College of Engineering, in partnership with corporate and private foundations, is offering participation in structured mentored research experiences and funding to support undergraduate researchers through the following programs:
Clare Boothe Luce Research Scholars
Awards are given to support women undergraduates seeking to study or teach science, mathematics, and/or engineering via the research pathway to graduate studies. Eight (8) women in science (i.e., physics and chemistry), math, computer science, and engineering fields will be selected for the 2023 – 2024 cohort. Up to $12000 will be awarded to selected scholars: $5000 for the fall and spring semesters (at least 10 hours/week doing research) and $7000 for 10 weeks in the summer (approximately 30-35 hours/week doing research). DaRin Butz Foundation Research Scholars
$5000 awards are given to women undergraduates in computer science, physics, and select engineering disciplines (aerospace, electrical, computer, materials science, nuclear) to do 10 weeks of research on campus in summer (approximately 30-35 hours/week). Illinois Scholars Undergraduate Research
A minimum of $1000 per year is awarded to Grainger Engineering undergraduate students doing research in the fall and spring semesters. Funding is available for sophomores, juniors, and seniors who commit to two semesters of conducting research. Women, first-generation students, and students from underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply for the 2023-2024 cohort. Application Deadline: March 31 LEARN MORE
