The Burgess Lab aims to provide a sustainable agricultural system for future generations. We do this by harnessing open science and synthetic biology tool to simplify, miniaturize and automate engineering of photosynthetic organisms, with the goal of engineering crops to be more productive.
Based in Morrill Hall, we are looking for a motivated student to join our team. Hours are flexible during term time, with the option to commit to 3-4h periods between 9-5PM based on class schedules. Working in a fun and stimulating environment, you will be trained to assist with standard molecular biology tasks including but not limited to:
- Preparation of bacterial media & buffers
- Molecular cloning (DNA assembly, bacterial transformation, plasmid isolation)
- Quality control of DNA constructs
- Plant and algae growth and care
- Inventory maintenance
