Oral History: Theory, Methods and Practice

This course will introduce students to the theory and practice of oral history. Students will not only learn about oral history as a research methodology, they will also receive training in collecting oral histories. Themes include important debates in oral history; designing an oral history project and interviewing; methodological and ethical challenges; interpreting oral source material; and the politics of archiving. Students will also design and execute an oral history project taht will be available to the public digitally, as well as the opportunity to present your research at the Ethnography of the University Fall 2015 Student Conference.
