RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY: Impact of Climate Change on Plant Carbon-Nitrogen Balance Genomics/Physiology)
The Brooks lab is looking for an undergraduate research assistant who is interested in gaining experience in physiology and genomics. Work in the lab is aimed at understanding how photosynthesis and nitrogen metabolism are coordinated and how these processes will respond to climate change.
Duties will include growing plants, helping carry out experiments, analyzing data, and assisting with general laboratory maintenance. Specific techniques that are used in the lab are RNA/DNA extractions, PCR, cloning, and measuring nitrogen and photosynthetic traits by various techniques.
Preferred qualifications include being organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and having completed introductory courses in biological sciences. Prior experience with statistical analysis in R or Python is a plus. Students will ideally be able to work10-15 hours per week during the semester.
To apply, please send a CV/resume and a brief explanation of why you are interested in the position to Dr. Brooks (mb5886@illinois.edu).
If you have questions about this research project, you may also contact Dr. Brooks at the preceding email.
This is a paid research experience, and is ongoing.
