The Office of Undergraduate Research has cancelled the in-person Undergraduate Research Symposium and is currently working to move the symposium to an online format.
We have received questions this virtual symposium and what it will look like; we are still in the early stages of developing this structure and will update you once we know more. At the very least, we will have an environment for you to upload a PowerPoint (for both posters and oral presentations), and a pre-recorded narration, with a space for comments. We are hoping to have a more robust structure that allows for real-time chat (or asynchronous forum) with audience and judges, but given current challenges to university technology platforms presented by thousands of courses going on-line, we do not yet know if that is possible.
Also, because of concerns about possible exposure of research information including, but not limited to, confidential or patentable information, we will be using a closed learning management system like Compass/Blackboard, with access for the University of Illinois community only.
Please stay safe and healthy. We thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding in the days ahead as we work together to make this happen. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
