The (in)Secure Landscapes Lab in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences is looking for an undergraduate research assistant with interests in environmental justice, GIS, and the renewable energy transition. This position will be part-time during the Spring 2022 semester and full-time during Summer 2022.
This position will report directly to an MS student researching equity and energy justice in the state of Illinois under Dr. McKenzie Johnson. This is a mixed-methods interdisciplinary project, so students of all majors are encouraged to apply. Duties will include conducting GIS analysis, energy and infrastructure data collection, organization and analysis, and interview transcription.
Preferred qualifications include excellent communication skills, reliability, and enthusiasm. Prior experience with GIS and Excel is a plus. Demonstrated interest and involvement in social and environmental justice issues will also be considered.
Hours: 8 hr/wk during semester, 40 hr/wk during summer
Compensation: For pay ($12.50/hour) or research credit
Timing: January-May 2022 (part-time) and May-August 2022 (full-time)
