USA Today (Feb. 13) -- Advancements in mobile application development have given disabled college students more academic independence. Kyle Murphy, a junior at Illinois, has Duchene muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder characterized by muscle weakness and degeneration. Murphy frequently uses Dragon Naturally Speaking, a speech recognition software that transcribes a users words onto a Word document. Illinois even installed the Dragon software on its computers so he could complete tests.
