Engineering Open House is an annual student-led event featuring two days of exciting exhibits and captivating competitions that showcase the talent and ingenuity of engineering students at the University of Illinois. The event is open to the public at no cost. Families, students, and community members are invited to come and experience the atmosphere of innovation and creativity. If you plan to bring a group of 15 or larger, we ask that you register as a field trip.
Explore ACES is a two-day event at the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It showcases the variety of opportunities available to students, including study abroad programs, superior faculty, registered student organizations, and over $2 million in scholarships. The overarching goal of Explore ACES is, and always will be, to help students find their place in the College of ACES.
Beckman Institute Open House showcases interdisciplinary research March 10-11
The 2017 Beckman Institute Open House will take place March 10-11 with more than 40 exhibits—many of them interactive—to showcase the scientific and technological discoveries taking place at one of the nation’s leading centers for interdisciplinary research.
Come see one of the world’s largest supercomputers
Did you know that the world's largest supercomputer on a university campus is right here at the University of Illinois? It may look like row upon row of refrigerators but computing at a speed of a quadrillion calculations per second the Blue Waters supercomputer puts out some of the world's hottest science: gravitational waves; breakthroughs that may lead to cures for cancer, HIV, Ebola; improvements in severe thunderstorm and tornado forecasting; earthquake forecasting and structural resiliency; solar storms; black holes; even political redistricting.
Come see this marvel up close and personal during an open house on Saturday, March 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the National Petascale Computing Facility, 1725 S. Oak St., Champaign (one block west of State Farm Center at the corner of Oak & St. Mary’s Road). Park free across Oak St. in Lot E-14 (from there you can catch the free shuttle buses to Engineering Open House). Blue Waters and the National Petascale Computing Facility are operated by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
