Receive your official “hello”
New Student Convocation marks the official beginning of your Illinois journey.
At the ceremony, the newest class of Illini will come together for the first time to receive a warm welcome from the Chancellor, Provost, and faculty.
Immediately following, you will head out to the tailgating parking lots for lunch with your colleges.
Date: Friday, August 23
Time: 10:30-11:15 a.m. (doors open at 9:30)

Make your mark, Illini-style
Join 7,000 of your closest friends for one incredible photo opportunity.
At Sights & Sounds, you and your fellow Illini will gather on the field for an iconic class photo.
You’ll also learn more about the traditions of our university and meet players and coaches from our athletics teams under the lights of Memorial Stadium.
Stick around after the event for a movie in the stadium.

Quad Day is the biggest student engagement event of the year.
Build your Illinois experience by visiting the Main Quad and exploring the tables and booths of more than 700 registered student organizations (RSOs), campus activities, and community organizations.
There’s sure to be something to match your interests.
