The Illinois Branding Guidelines are established to promote consistency in the emails being sent for university programs. This article explains the recommended spacing settings for the Image and H1 elements. It also explains how to troubleshoot issues regarding extra spacing at the top and bottom of the email content.
Suggestions for Proper Formatting at the Top of an Email
For consistency and aesthetic appeal, the entire top section of the email, including the image element and the H1 element, should be flush with the Skin banner and the sides of the email. That is, these should have no padding on the left and right sides, and there should be no extra spacing between the elements. Information on how to resolve these issues are found below.
In order to remove the space above the orange banner (H1), navigate to the Message tab, and above the content block, there's a Top and Bottom Padding box. Make sure this is deselected and click Save.
This pushes your H1 against the banner of the skin.
In order to get rid of the padding on the left and right of your image, navigate to your Image element and make sure the Left and Right Padding Checkbox is deselected. Click Save.
This removes the extra spacing on the sides of the image.
Troubleshooting Extra Spacing Beneath Your Email
If your email has extra space between the content and the skin, there are two possible solutions.
First, check if there are any extra Spacers after your bottom-most content block.
Delete these and click Save.
If this isn't the issue, go into your bottom-most Content block and see if there are extra enters after your text.
Delete these and click Save.
