GIS Analysts are responsible for data management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and data analysis, and compiling reports and figures. GIS Analysts will need to explain geographic trends and findings from their analyses requiring excellent written and verbal communication.
GIS Analyst Duties:
- Assist in the creation and updating of new and existing GIS maps and map layers using ArcGIS.
- Creating exhibits and maps for various projects including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure Plans, and others.
- Analyzing spatial data using ArcGIS mapping software.
- Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
- Utilizing mapping applications and tools.
- Assist with GPS data collection and post-processing for high accuracy data specifications.
- Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, or related field.
- Experience with ArcGIS (version 10.6 and higher) software products.
- Experience with GPS measuring tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience using Python and ESRI Model Builder preferred.
- Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe.
- Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate job decisions following standard office policies and past precedents.
- Strong team player with effective internal and external communication skills.
- Must have a current driver’s license.
