Approximately ten positions are open, and any rising sophomore, junior, or senior interested in sustainability outreach is encouraged to apply, no matter the major! EcoReps will be expected to work 4-5 hours per week throughout the school year and will receive an hourly wage of $15. EcoReps will benefit from building leadership skills and getting involved in a variety of campus sustainability initiatives. Students will enjoy participating in a community of students who are passionate about sustainability.
Responsibilities
· Participate in a half-day training session second week of August.
· Meet weekly with supervisors, submit a monthly activities plan, and submit a bi-weekly report on progress toward planned activities.
· Work at large-scale student-facing events to share information through tabling or support sustainability features at the event (e.g., recycling, composting).
· Conduct outreach in their colleges and schedule presentations to 100-level classes to share information on campus sustainability in the fall semester.
· Organize and coordinate at least one trash pickup and Illini Lights Out event per semester.
· Deliver sustainability workshops in university residence halls.
· Work zero-waste tailgating events, zero-waste basketball games, and the annual Dump and Run event.
· Proactively publicize sustainability events and initiatives and advocate for the green certification of events/offices/chapters within their departments, colleges, residence halls, chapters, RSOs, etc.
· Identify opportunities to improve sustainability and proactively work toward a sustainability change.
Skills
· Must be a University of Illinois student beginning their sophomore, junior, or senior year in Fall 2025.
· Must be interested in sustainability outreach and programming.
· Strong communication, project management, organization, and time management skills; ability to work independently or with a team.
