2024 Summer Internship – Mid Atlantic Region

AFM’s Mid-Atlantic region has 4 openings for a Summer Internship in Beckley WV, Richmond VA, Hope Mills NC, and Edgefield SC reporting to the District Manager. As an intern at AFM, you will be paired with a forester throughout your summer to gain a wide range of forestry and business experience. Activities will mostly include inventory work using a variety of cruising techniques, timber sale layout and stream buffer delineation, harvesting inspections, GIS/GPS work, tract inspections, and other duties assigned by AFM foresters. If you like the outdoors, are an analytical thinker, and enjoy work of an independent nature, we’d like to talk with you!

Position Requirements:
- Pursuing a Degree in Forestry or Natural Resources
- Desire to learn more about a consulting forestry career
- Experience in forest inventory is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; working knowledge of GIS & GPS applications is a plus.
- Must have personal skills necessary to communicate with AFM team members, managers, and contractors.
- Valid driver’s license.
At AFM, our people are our top priority, and that includes our interns. The position is flexible with start and end dates to accommodate class schedules. This is a paid position, the pay is to be between $14 - $15 an hour. AFM will not be providing additional assistance with housing.
