The duties of the internship include identifying, removing and monitoring invasive plants; preparing and maintaining native planting sites; and photographing and downloading photos of native pollinators onto inaturalist. Removal of invasives will include but not be limited to operating a weed whacker, using a variety of hand tools, installing tarps for solarization and cutting Phragmites. Other duties will involve conducting vegetation transects, maintaining detailed field notes, analyzing data and writing a final project report. The intern will census the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly population and educate and supervise volunteers.
