Illinois in Washington (IIW) is the Washington, DC-based academic program for the University of Illinois. Participants live in Washington, DC for a semester, where they intern and take classes taught by University faculty. Programs are offered in fall, spring, and summer semesters, and are open to all University undergraduates. IIW offers an exceptional opportunity to gain rewarding work experience while enjoying the political, intellectual, and cultural experiences that only the nation’s capital can offer.

To apply, students will need to submit:
- A resume, which must have been reviewed by a career center on campus,
- A 3-5 page writing sample, double-spaced,
- Two recommendations, at least one of which is from an academic recommender (instructor, professor, TA), and
- DARS report or unofficial transcript.
