The Center for Forested Watershed Research, Santee Experimental Forest anticipates hiring a part-time Forestry Technician position. The duty station will be located at the Santee Experimental Forest in Cordesville, SC. The Santee Experimental Forest has been in continuous operation since 1937 and the research program spans the continuum of basic to applied forest science. The Santee Experimental Forest works cooperatively with several universities, National Forests, and local, state, and other federal agencies.
The position will involve field and lab work on a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to: forest response to disturbances including prescribed fire, carbon cycling in managed and natural forests, nutrient, and water budgets and cycling. Position duties may include assisting with forest measurements, soil sampling, water sampling sample preparation of soil and vegetation samples, data entry and literature reviews. The work will be conducted 2-3 three days per week; the rate of pay for the position is a GS-04 (approximately $14.73/hr).
