The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking applications for a Fish Culture Specialist I at its Ed Weed Fish Culture Station in Grand Isle Vermont.
Employees in this position will be involved in the propagation of fish and operation and maintenance of a fish culture station. Employees will be responsible for maintaining the health, nutritional requirements, and environment to promote optimum growth of several species of fish. Work is performed under the general supervision of a fish production supervisor. Occasional weekend assignment can be expected as well occasional holiday and second shift coverage if needed.
The successful applicant will be required to attend the Division's course in fish culture and must obtain a pesticide applicator's license and CPR certification within six months of hire.
General Job Description: Fish culture and maintenance work at a professional level for the Department of Fish & Wildlife involving the propagation and care of fish at a fish culture station. This is an entry level position which functions under close direction and supervision. Promotion is contingent upon fulfillment of established criteria for the Specialist 2 class. Duties are performed under the supervision of a Fish Culture Station Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in fish culture or a natural resources field.
