SUMMER INTERNSHIP
FORESTRY INTERN
VILLAGE OF WINNETKA
The Winnetka Public Works Department has a temporary summer position open for a forestry intern. The position is scheduled to begin work in June and may continue a maximum of 13 weeks through August. Hours for the position are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. The forestry intern is required to inspect and trim trees, water and other tree maintenance as needed. Salary is $11.50 per hour.
Requirements:
o Must be 18 years old;
o Possess a valid driver’s license;
o Must be a full time college or university student of sophomore status pursing a degree in Forestry, Horticulture or related field;
o Must be able to provide proper documentation of full time student status for the 2016 Fall semester;
o Must be able to properly identify tree species
The forestry intern will be trained to:
o Scout for insect and disease problems (Dutch elm disease, Ash Borer, etc.)
o Conduct construction site inspections
o Maintain Village tree inventory
