The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is inviting applications for the following position:
Position Title: Natural Resources Specialist Opt. 2 Monthly Salary Range: $4,377 – 6,581
Position Location: ORC Div. of Wildlife Resources, 2050 W. Stearns Rd., Bartlett, IL (DuPage County)
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, 1 hour lunch. Saturday & Sunday off.
Description of Duties
Under the direction of the Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Program Manager, provides professional, highly complex and comprehensive wildlife resource management, hunter/trapper management, and related outdoor recreation planning services to the public and private landowners within the Region; recommends Departmental positions on wildlife resources and outdoor recreational uses pertaining to private lands; provides technical direction to District assigned personnel providing wildlife recreation planning and management expertise to private landowners; assists in the preparation of the operations budget for the Program; has discretionary spending authorities.
Desirable Education, Training and Experience
Requires knowledge, skill and mental ability equivalent to a master’s degree in wildlife resource management or a directly related biological science; or requires a bachelor’s degree in field supplemented by two years of directly related professional experience. Requires possession of an appropriate valid Illinois driver’s license. Requires thorough knowledge of specialized wildlife conservation principles and wildlife outreach techniques. Requires extensive knowledge of flora, fauna and modern wildlife management techniques. Requires extensive knowledge of division objectives, programs and services. Requires extensive knowledge of state/federal laws and regulations pertaining to wildlife management. Requires ability to collect information and assist in analyzing and evaluating technical data/reports. Requires ability to prepare records and written reports. Requires working knowledge of public relations principles, techniques, theories and practices, including the ability to deliver informational presentations. Requires ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with federal, state and local governments, conservation organizations, Natural Resource employees and the general public. Requires ability to work under adverse environmental conditions.
