STEM Program Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The STEM Program Specialist is responsible for the implementation of STEM and outdoor education programs and activities including but not limited to preparation, set-up, facilitation, and clean-up. The position has excellent interpersonal skills, is a team player, enjoys working in a dynamic environment and makes exemplary customer service a priority. Additionally, the STEM Program Specialist enjoys working with children and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list may not include all of the duties assigned):
- Assists with planning, design, facilitation and implementation of STEM and outdoor education workshops for Girl Scouts during the academic year and during the summer, including camp.
- Assists with planning, design, facilitation and implementation of STEM and outdoor education programs for field trips and family events as assigned.
- Assists with planning, design, facilitation, and implementation of STEM Center backpacks for outdoor STEM education.
- Remains fully Present during entirety of events. Being Present means you are hands-on, engaging, constantly and consistently interacting with program participants.
- Remains physically present during entirety of event to assist in set-up, implementation, and clean-up after the event.
- Responds to related emails and calls within 48 business hours.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service.
- Always maintains professional appearance and interactions.
- Manages multiple tasks at one time and demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks.
- Willingness to work additional programs and events based on demand, time of year and facility needs.
OTHER:
- Willingness to embrace assigned tasks outside of job description.
- Must be able to travel within established geographic areas and council service centers, as necessary.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work 35 hours a week, indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions as required.
- Maintain a Wednesday – Sunday position with some flexibility on days depending on programming.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years in formal / informal education or related field.
- Has experience working with children.
- Must pass Archery training (GSNETX will provide training).
- Willing to become trained (GSNETX will provide training) in Ropes Course facilitation.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and changing conditions.
- Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends when needed. This is a full-time (35 hours/week), non-exempt position. GSNETX operates on a 35-hour work week.

- Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, before and after hours, and on weekends, when required.

The employee must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Activities occur both inside and outside and employee is subject to both environmental conditions; however, employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
