LDWF Waterfowl Technicians

Duration of Employment: Approximately October-April with a maximum of 1,245 hours.
Job Description:
The successful applicants will assist with a winter ecology study of greater white-fronted geese, and possibly other research activities. Duties will include assisting with capturing birds, equipment maintenance, ground-truthing selected habitats, collecting observational data, data entry, and other duties as assigned. Applicant will work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends (particularly during trapping).
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicant must be detail oriented with a keen interest in waterfowl, should be highly motivated, and in excellent physical condition. Duties require routinely lifting items in excess of 50 lbs, wading in unconsolidated wetlands, irregular hours, and buggy environments. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug screening is required.
Compensation:
Salary: up to $15/hour, depending upon experience. Housing provided. Per diem while afield.
