Under general supervision, conducts environmental assessments of projects submitted to the Division using a range of tools including fieldwork, topographic maps, technical reports, and computerized databases and applications. Determines the potential for adverse impacts to natural resources and ensures compliance with state statutes. Assists higher level staff in performing natural resource reviews for units of local government, State or Federal agencies, or intra-Department activities to ensure compliance with natural resources statutes. |
Minimum Requirements: |
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college and course work in natural resource management, environmental planning, biology, ecology or related fields. Requires one year responsible work experience in natural resource planning, natural science or related field. Requires working knowledge of federal and state environmental protection and resource conservation statutes, and regulations. Requires working knowledge of methods, procedures and techniques utilized in determining the impacts of various project proposals on natural resources such as wetland and endangered species. Requires elementary knowledge of methods used to prepare and review complex reports. Requires ability to utilize various computer programs in the development of reports, organizing materials, and conducting environmental impact assessments. This could include work processing, spreadsheets, ArcView or other GIS tools, and natural resource databases. Requires ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form. |
