Description of Duties:
Under general direction of the Program Administrator, provides professional and comprehensive whitetail deer management and planning services on a statewide basis; reviews, evaluates and analyzes natural resource, environmental and recreational impacts of projects and proposals of a federal, state, local and private sector nature as they relate to the white-tailed deer resource; formulates Departmental position; monitors, review and prepares technical white-tailed deer resource plans, reports or studies; submits evaluations and recommendations on land acquisition and development and implementation of natural resource and outdoor recreation management programs; assists in the preparation of the operations budget for the program; has discretionary spending authorities; assists in liaison activities with state, federal and local agencies and the general public.
Desirable Education, Training and Experience:
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife, forestry or natural heritage resource management. Requires four years of professional experience in wildlife or natural heritage resource management. Requires thorough knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations and management and research practices and policies related to the forest wildlife resource. Requires thorough knowledge of Division objectives, policies, programs and services. Requires extensive knowledge of budgetary planning.
