• Nachusa ‐ A 4,000-acre preserve home to more than 700 native plant species, 180 species of birds, and a herd of bison near Franklin Grove, IL.
• Illinois River Project ‐ Over 8,000 acres of wetlands, lakes, prairies, and uplands based at Emiquon near Lewistown, IL, and Spunky Bottoms in Brown County, IL.
• Kankakee Sands ‐ A 2,700-acre savanna complex that is home to some of the best examples of rare black oak savannas worldwide, near Momence, IL and Morocco, IN.
• Southern Illinois ‐ Working in the 289,000-acre Shawnee National Forest across forests, grasslands, and wetlands based out of Carterville, IL
What You’ll Bring:
• High school diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience.
• Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (e.g. lawn mower, chainsaw, UTV, ATV or OHV, two-way radio, or similar equipment).
• Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. First Aid, CPR, herbicide or pesticide application).
Desired Qualifications (vary by location):
• Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
• Ability to follow instructions from colleagues/coworkers/team members.
• Moderate pack walk test of 24 pounds for two miles under 30 minutes.
• Course work in biology, especially field-related subjects such as plant and animal identification and ecology
