Position: Summer 2019 Wetland Internship
Location: Libertyville, Illinois
Salary: $13.50/hour
Job Summary: Evaluate the effectiveness of isolated wetlands preservation through fieldwork
Becoming a Wetland Intern with the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) would allow you to be involved with collecting data to determine the efficacy of isolated wetland preservation. Your days will consist of identifying and collecting wetland plants and recording hydrology and soils data in approximately 100 preserved isolated wetlands in the field and evaluating and reporting on your findings.
To be successful in the role, you should be a graduate or current student in a 2- or 4-year college degree program with an emphasis in wetland science or a related field. Experience with the ArcGIS geographic information systems (GIS) software is also desirable. Applicants must have their own transportation for traveling to and from field sites and the SMC office. The wetland intern will work approximately 40 hours per week for up to 15 weeks, beginning in approximately mid-May 2019.
