Join the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences for a Summer Field Day!
On Saturday, June 29th, NRES prospective, incoming, and current students, alumni, faculty, and staff will gather for a mid-summer opportunity to meet new people with similar academic interests and reconnect with friends.
Who? All NRES affiliates (prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff)

Why? To assist with restoring biodiversity and function to our native ecosystem and socialize with each other
We will be doing restoration work, so please follow the advice below:
- Bring a water bottle. We will have a cooler from which you can refill it.
- Wear long pants and long sleeved clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
- Wear sturdy shoes/boots. No sandals or open toe shoes are allowed!
- Wear socks you can tuck your pants legs into.
- Bring insect repellant and sunscreen (We will have some you can use, but bring your own if you have concerns about ingredients.)
- If you have work/gardening gloves, you are welcome to bring them. Equipment will be provided.
When? Saturday, June 29th, working from 9:00 to Noon followed by lunch (provided at the Camp Reinberg picnic pavilion)
Please arrive by 8:45 with your signed waivers (note the need for signatures on both pages and those under 18 years old require a parent's signature).
Timeline and Details:
8:45 – 9:00: meet the workday leaders, NRES alumni Mark Krivchenia and Jeff Weiss< and turn in waivers
9:00 – 9:15: safety talk and equipment distribution
9:15 – 11:45: restoration project
11:45 – 12:00: turn in equipment
12:00 – 2:00: Wash up and enjoy lunch at the Camp Reinberg picnic pavilion (You're welcome to bring cooler clothes to change into, too.)

Where? Deer Grove Forest Preserve in Palatine, IL
Deer Grove Forest Preserve is located in Palatine. We will meet at the Camp Reinberg parking lot off of Quentin Road in Deer Grove East.
