We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated colleague to examine the effectiveness of live sonar echosounding technology on catch rate, size and behaviour of fish captured by recreational anglers targeting zander and pike in deep lakes. The project involves extensive field work together with experimental anglers as citizen scientists. At IGB, you join the IFishMan research group led by Prof. Dr. Robert Arlinghaus (https://www.ifishman.de/en/). A fully equipped live sonar research boat is available along with other key field equipment, vehicles etc. 

The Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS), one of the five Scientific Surveys housed by the Prairie Research Institute, is seeking a Visiting Large River Ecologist who will develop, direct, and conduct research activities focused on issues surrounding the impact, control, and management of bigheaded carp and other potential nuisance or invasive species throughout the Upper Mississippi River.

This is an in-person opportunity with the ability to be on site on a regular basis. This position is located at the Illinois River Biological Station in Havana, Illinois.  

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated colleague that uses quantitative surveys to understand the characteristics, attitudes, preferences, norms and behaviours of urban recreational anglers in Berlin. The project comes with funding to conduct a large sample size, randomized survey of angling license holders in Berlin, with substantial leverage for the design of survey components in cooperation with the Berlin fisheries agency. The Research Coordinator coordinates research activities within the Agroecosystem Sustainability Center, serving as a key liaison among research personnel, funding agencies, and university administrative units. By managing these critical aspects of the research enterprise, this role ensures projects run smoothly from a research reporting and output delivery, financial, compliance, and logistical standpoint, allowing faculty and researchers to focus on advancing their scientific work.
