Faculty, staff and teaching assistants honored with Campus Awards for Excellence in Instruction

Rachel Switzky, an executive director at international design and consulting firm IDEO, has been selected to be the inaugural director of the Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Strategic Plan Town Hall will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at noon in the Alice Campbell Alumni Center ballroom. Campus leadership will share current progress on the planning, and then the audience will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions.

Six University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign faculty members have been awarded National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships for 2018. It is the third year in the last four that the Urbana campus has garnered more fellowship awards than any other single institution.

Andreas Cangellaris, the Urbana campus’s dean of the College of Engineering, will begin Jan. 16 as the next vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

Based in the College of Education, EJP offers education programs to men in the medium security state prison in Danville, Illinois. The comprehensive college-in-prison program includes upper-division college courses taught by U. of I. faculty members and advanced graduate students, educational workshops and extracurricular activities such as an anti-violence group, an English as a second language program, a guest lecturer series, reading groups and tutoring.
