The Bolashak International Scholarship program at Illinois was designed, developed, and is managed by Global Education and Training (GET) and the Intensive English Institute (IEI) in Illinois International. It includes individual study and research to develop an understanding of the innovations and trends in higher education, teaching and learning technologies.
Specifically, the scholars will audit university courses, participate in conferences and seminars, and research collaboration through the University Library System. Scholars are also provided opportunities to network and engage with university leaders and experts in the areas of pedagogical innovation, research, curriculum development, instructional design, and online teaching and learning.
Illinois has hosted visiting scholars from Kazakhstan for four years in a row , and this year GET welcomed over 80 fellows making it the largest cohort since the university became a host institution in 2020.
The Oct. 28 Intercultural Spotlight Series event was sponsored by International Student and Scholar Services, Global Education and Training, and the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center.
It took place inside room 1000 at the Siebel Center for Design.
During the event scholars discussed the cultural landscape of Kazakhstan and shared their experiences on growing up in the country and making the transition to life in the US.
