Summer International Student Career Meetup: Job Search During the Pandemic

Career Webinar with Standard Chartered Bank China
Wednesday, May 27, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Central Time (9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Beijing Time)
Standard Chartered Bank is hosting a career webinar targeting Illinois students who are interested in the banking industry in China. Mandarin will be used. Students studying finance/business and other related STEM majors are welcomed. University of Illinois Shanghai Office is co-hosting this event. For details, please visit the Handshake event section.
ISSS Online Workshops and Virtual Office Hours
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) offers online workshops about CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT. These workshops are posted on their media space channel. ISSS also offers virtual office hours on Tuesdays and Fridays all summer long. Please check the schedule out on the ISSS website.
Shopee Code League 2020
Shopee, a major e-commerce firm in Asia is hosting a two-month coding league consisting of six big data competitions and series of online algorithm questions. This online competition is open to all students from Vietnam, Thailand, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Singapore. All winners will get full-time or internship opportunities with Shopee. You can check out their website for details.
Webinar: Job Searching in a COVID-19 World by Council of Korean Americans
Tuesday, May 19, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m
Council of Korean Americans, a national nonprofit organization serving Korean Americans, is hosting a job search webinar. Even though this event seems geared toward Korean Americans, Korean international students can learn and network with industry professionals. Register here.
Mynavi Japan Online Job Fair and Webinars
If you are interested in job opportunities in Japan, please take a look at the website of Mynavi Japan, a major job search platform in Japan. They are hosting an online career fair called Global Career Expo in June, which will be a good opportunity for non-Japanese students to find full time and internship positions. Some career fair prep webinars will be offered in May and June, too.
Mars China Career Workshop on FMCG Industry in China
Wednesday, May 20, 8:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Central Time (May 21, 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. China Time)
Mars China, the confectionery giant, will offer an online career workshop on the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry in China. They will also provide tips on resumes, virtual interviews, and job search resources in China. Mandarin will be spoken. BOE Innovation Challenge Competition
BOE Technology Group, a Chinese tech giant is now running a project-based competition for college students who are interested in display, sensor, IoT, and healthcare technology. The deadline to submit a project proposal is June 26. For details, visit the Handshake event section.
LockIn China – Job Search Workshop on Opportunities at Big Companies in China
Wednesday, May 20, 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m China Time
LockIn China, a recruiting platform in China for overseas Chinese students will host a job search workshop called LockIn 520 Live Broadcast. They will talk about how to apply and prepare for the recruitment of Alibaba, BOE, Deloitte, PwC, and other big companies in China.
