Welcome Dr. Pankaj Desai, our New Assistant Director for International Student Career Development
We are very pleased to announce that, Dr. Pankaj Desai will be joining The Career Center later this spring as our new Assistant Director for International Student Career Development. Pankaj brings fantastic experience as an educator and student affairs practitioner. His doctoral dissertation focused on the experience of Indian international students in the US. Throughout his career, holistic wellness and justice have been the foundation of his work with students. He has a strong history of leadership, mentorship, supervision, and building inclusive communities. In his personal time, Pankaj enjoys listening to Indian classical music, photography, and mountaineering, which will be an interesting pursuit in central Illinois! He also plays the Tabala (an Indian percussion instrument) and Bansuri (the North Indian Bamboo Flute). Stay tuned to welcome Dr. Pankaj Desai. We are excited!

The Illinois Part-Time Job Fair is open to students on campus seeking opportunities to make some extra money and build their career competencies while completing their academics. AUCA is an open organization for overseas universities’ representatives based in Mainland China to exchange information and resources, pursue collaboration, and learn best practices. Our Graduate Assistants will help you with any career-related concern by connecting you to relevant resources and accurate information. During these 10 - 15-minute sessions, you will learn about resources for finding internships, strategies for choosing a major, or tips for an upcoming interview. Also, get feedback on your resume without having to schedule an appointment. Please bring a paper copy.
Creating Your Powerful Resume (In-Person)

Having a well-thought-out, and strategically laid-out resume is key to landing an interview. Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to draft an effective resume that describes your qualifications, skills, and experience.

With many networking and job/internship search opportunities moving to virtual platforms, it is important to know what to expect before participating in a virtual career fair. Attending a virtual career fair is an important step towards obtaining an internship or full-time employment. This workshop teaches you what to expect as well as how to create your elevator pitch, navigate employer sessions, and follow up with employers after the event.
