Postdoctoral Research Associate – Water Resources Planning

The Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) at the Prairie Research Institute, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to a statewide water resources planning project.
The successful candidate will work on:
- Water resources systems analyses with a focus on surface water and groundwater availability
- Strong scientific communication with stakeholders and general public
- Hydrology Analyses
- Water budget assessments
- Data visualization to support decision-making
Qualifications:
· PhD in hydrology, water resources, GIS, geography, or related field is required. .
- Demonstrated experience in hydrology, water resources, or related fields
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present scientific findings to diverse audiences (e.g., stakeholders, scientists, project sponsors, policymakers, and the general public)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical analyses to evaluate water availability and sustainability
- Prepare and present results through technical reports, stakeholder communications, and peer-reviewed publications
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team
