Students are not able to take the Preliminary Examination until they have successfully passed the Qual exam. Students may schedule the Prelim as soon as they have received the result of the Qual exam.
The Prelim Exam must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. To schedule the exam, please communicate with the committee members for availability. Once a date/time has been arranged, you can schedule the exam here https://go.grad.illinois.edu/student-portal.
