Global pandemic years aside, spring always brings a buzz of activity in the College of Education. Students are busy working on mid-semester projects together, faculty are submitting papers and funding proposals for review, and everyone is looking ahead to warmer temps and graduation events. It's a time of great energy on campus!
In this issue of Alumni Update, you can read about our energy and hard work in action as we highlight work being led by professors H. Chad Lane, Mike Tissenbaum, and Luc Paquette in the area of artificial intelligence within teaching and learning. Our faculty, at an institution known for its leading-edge research and innovation, are uniquely poised to harness this technology to advance education.
We're grateful for new, innovative scholarships to support students in the College—like the Haney STEM Education Scholarships. And last month, we shared the exciting news that the College of Education has remained #3 in Online Master's in Education programs across the nation. Education at Illinois is a pioneer in the science of online education, and we are excited to announce a newly created fund to specifically support our online students. These scholarships will support our online master’s students along with offering dissertation completion awards to our online Ed.D. students. If you are interested in supporting the Education at Illinois Online Student Scholarship fund, please contact the Advancement Office and watch future newsletters for more information.
And yes, Convocation is a mere six weeks away! On that note, the campus' Illini Success team just released this year's edition of the Illini Success Report, an annual review of the first career destinations of our recent graduates. I think you'll agree: no matter where you are from or where you land, a degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is one of the best decisions and best investments a person can make for their education, career, and life.
Yours in Orange and Blue,
