As 2022 comes to a close, I hope all our alumni and friends are able to take time in reflection. Here, we are taking intentional time to reflect on everything the fall semester has brought us. We welcomed a new Dean to the College of Education at Illinois. Dean Chrystalla Mouza is completing her first semester and is excited to share her vision for a bright future for the College. There is no doubt she will continue the great work of Education at Illinois while bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the work ahead of us.
We celebrated the career of Dr. James D. Anderson, a historian, scholar, educator, and mentor who has invested over five decades into moving the College forward through training the nations' newest generations of educators and leaders. Thankfully, Anderson remains as professor and dean emeritus in the College during his retirement. The honor of working with Dr. Anderson these last six years will be a highlight of my career at Illinois.
In case you've not yet viewed it, our 2022 College of Education Impact Report highlights many faculty and initiatives that are making a difference in educational communities around the world. The report is available online and showcases the real impact our College of Education COMMUNITY is having on communities of learners big and small. This year there were so many important, unique contributions to the field that we truly could have doubled the Report's page count!
I would like to close by thanking all Education alumni, donors, and friends who helped make a difference in the lives of Education at Illinois students through the With Illinois campaign. By supporting our mission, you helped us surpass our goal and raise over $32 million for students and programs. For this commitment, we send our heartfelt gratitude and wishes for a joyful 2023.
Yours in Orange and Blue,
