The Fall 2022 semester is upon us, and we are pleased to welcome our new dean to the College of Education.
Chrystalla Mouza joined Education at Illinois on August 15, 2022 as new Dean of the College, coming from the University of Delaware. You can read more about Dean Mouza's background and accomplishments in this email newsletter. Along with Dean Mouza, we welcome seven new faculty members this academic year, each bringing expanded capacity for research and teaching that contributes to our world class programs.
In a couple of weeks, we welcome back to campus alumnus Chezare Warren, Ph.D., as our first Dean's Distinguished Speaker of the academic year. Warren will discuss DEI Advocacy and Action towards Greater Accountability in an Empowered University. The lecture is open to campus and a recording will be shared on the College's YouTube channel afterward.
Our 18th Annual Goldstick Lecture is scheduled for September 22 at Ikenberry Commons on campus. Our speaker this year will be alumna and former Goldstick fellow Jamie Pearson, Ph.D. She will ne speaking on the topic of Connecting FACES; Strengthening Agency, Advocacy, and Access among Historically Marginalized Families Supporting Autistic Children. We look forward to hosting the Goldstick Lecture this year in person, and look forward to seeing everyone on September 22.
Finally, we are extremely proud of and grateful for the support of our alumni and friends to impact Education through the With Illinois Campaign. Our total raised as a College surpassed our goal by nearly $8 million. A Campaign Celebration event is happening on campus during Homecoming Week 2022, and you are invited.
We hope you will join us for one or all of these great lectures and celebrations this fall!
Yours in Orange and Blue,
