Spring greetings from Urbana-Champaign! It is hard for me to believe that the semester is coming to a close in only a few days. Once again, this year we will miss out on the pomp and circumstance of graduation, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we in the College of Education will not let the pandemic steal our joy as we celebrate our students, faculty, and the entire Education at Illinois community. Great Minds Think Education at Illinois, and we will continue to celebrate that GREATNESS!
We begin with celebrating an honor bestowed upon James D. Anderson, dean of the College. His contributions to the field of education were recently recognized with his induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS). This body has recognized excellence in leadership and advancing the common good since 1780, and Dean Anderson’s career exemplifies this to perfection.
For those who have not had the joy and privilege of working with Dean Anderson, I can sincerely tell you that he inspires colleagues every day to be better at working across disciplines and divides to advance a common good. I invite you to send him a note of congratulations on this well-deserved AAAS honor:
