Greetings from the College of Education at Illinois!
Here we are at the start of the Fall 2018 semester at Illinois, and what an exciting time it is to be on campus. Last week the College welcomed its Class of 2022 students and celebrated the beginning of a new academic year. During the summer, we have been on the move in the Education Building as several offices have relocated for enhanced staff collaborations and better student experiences. When you come back to campus—and please let us know if you plan on doing so—I hope you will visit our new student academic offices in Suite 110 and the advancement office in Suite 32. We would love to see you and chat!
We are thrilled to announce that the cutting-edge O’Leary Learning Center will open in the College in 2019. We are grateful to the members of the O’Leary family for their vision and commitment to STEM education, and we encourage you to stay tuned for a “save the date” event happening next year that will celebrate the opening of this exciting space.
A number of our alumni have received high honors for their work, and our graduates remain highly sought-after and preferred candidates for Illinois school districts. Additionally, our online programs continue to be recognized for offering a transformative educational experience to students around the world.
The With Illinois campaign has reached the halfway point, and we are thrilled to report that the campus has raised $1.36 billion! As you read this edition of Alumni Update, please consider supporting your Alma Mater to assist this crucial and ambitious effort. Much of the important work that takes place every day in the College of Education and campuswide is made possible by generous and engaged alumni like you who are forever With Illinois.
Finally, I am pleased to announce that Heather Zorn has returned to the College of Education as our director of constituent engagement in the Office of Advancement. Heather has a great deal of experience in the advancement community at Illinois, which began several years ago in our College as the assistant director of development. We are thrilled to have her back, and I encourage you to read the news about Heather's new position with the College.
Yours in Orange and Blue,
Lisa Denson-Rives
Assistant Dean for Advancement
