Jameson Mori, assistant research scientist at the Illinois Natural History Survey’s Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiological Lab, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Early Career Investigator Award by the Prairie Research Institute (PRI) for their outstanding contributions to environmental science and interdisciplinary research.
Jameson’s exceptional leadership and expertise in wildlife veterinary epidemiology, particularly in their pioneering work on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), have garnered widespread acclaim. As the lead principal investigator on a grant awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Jameson’s research investigates the relationship between clay and CWD in Illinois, pushing the boundaries of knowledge in this critical area.
Amber Zilinger, a visiting scientific specialist under Jameson and an upcoming master’s student, attested to their leadership and mentorship qualities, stating, "Dr. Mori's guidance has been instrumental in facilitating professional growth for myself and other members of the laboratory.
