Q. When did you start working for your survey?
A. September, 1993.
Q. What made you decide to go into your field?
A. I don’t remember, but I have never regretted it.
Q. Who was a mentor to you?
A. Dale McElrath has always guided my work, but several other researchers at ISAS have inspired and helped me.
Q. What is the best part of your job?
A. Getting really familiar with the information from a site to the point that nothing is lost in jumping back and forth between different data sets. This is when ideas flow for me and I’m able to weave together a narrative. It’s too easy to fall out of this groove.
Q. What advice would you give to other female scientists?
A. My advice to anyone would be to stay focused on what you want to accomplish.
Q. What work/project are you most proud of?
A. I am most proud to be/have been involved with the reporting of the Tree Row and Orendorf Sites. Both were extraordinary settlements excavated decades ago under extremely pressing conditions.
