Greetings Mothers and Mother Figures,
Welcome to the University of Illinois! As the year begins some Illini students may be starting their lives at the university, while others are getting reacquainted with old friends whom they have not seen for a few months. This is just how the directors and members of the Moms Association of the University of Illinois feel. We are looking forward to getting to know you and share resources and tools that the Illini Moms Association hopes to convey with all Illini moms and families.
You are now officially an Illini Mom, and you too are now on your own remarkable journey. As a mother or mother-figure of a student at Illinois, you are an automatic member of the Moms Association. This non-profit association supports the university in philanthropic efforts, including raising funds for scholarships, volunteering, and coordinating Moms Weekend events.
This school year marks our centennial year for the Moms Association. We are excited about expanding our fund-raising efforts to grant one hundred $1000 scholarships this year. We also hope to be a presence during the school year for each season, not just the Moms Weekend festivities. We are also committed to an enduring gift that will reflect our appreciation and continued support of the University of Illinois.
The Moms Association is always looking for board members. Please consider volunteering. As a board member, you will have the opportunity to meet and work with other moms, mom figures, university leaders and administrators. We also welcome anyone interested in becoming a mom ambassador. The Moms Ambassadors are a volunteer committee of the Moms Association who build relationships with Moms and Mom figures of Illinois students (both in-person and through social media), integrate into the Illinois community by attending on-campus events, and help the Moms Association volunteer in ways that make the Illinois experience a positive one for all families. You can find more information on our website: www.illinimoms.com or our Facebook page.
Starting a new experience has its own excitement and uncertainty. While we still may have some concerns related to the pandemic, we can be certain that the Illini community will always share an unwavering alliance and connection, and the Moms Association will continue to be here to continue to relate with you and be a resource. I hope you will reach out to us.
All the best to you and your student at the University of Illinois and, again, welcome to the community!
Kind regards,
Kristen Miller
