Are you interested in educational access and building a sense of belonging? Would you like to serve as a bridge between the campus and the C-U community?
Undergraduate majors in the humanities, arts, humanistic social sciences, and education are invited to apply for a paid internship with the Odyssey Project, a program through the Humanities Research Institute that offers free college courses to income-eligible residents of the Champaign-Urbana community.
Odyssey Project interns are responsible for delivering onsite content and skill support for Odyssey students during class time as well as tutoring outside of class time. Tasks may include assisting students with technical questions related to computer programs and course management systems (Canvas) and providing feedback on student writing. Interns will also have opportunities to support the program through alumni outreach, classroom setup, and small research projects.
Through this work, the intern will help to translate the world of academia—and ease that transition—for those who are new to it. The intern will receive ongoing training and mentorship from the Odyssey Project Advisor and Coordinator during the course of their internship.
