From October 24 through November 1, IPRH event grant recipients Kevin Hamilton and Ryan Griffis (both professors in the School of Art and Design) brought Sarah Kanouse (Art & Art History, CLAS) and Shiloh Krupar (Geography, Georgetown University) to the University of Illinois for a series of events, collectively known as “Towards a National Cold War Monuments and Environmental Heritage Trail”. These events included a lecture, a 6 hour charrette, and an exhibition, all revolving around the question of how to best memorialize the Cold War.
For those who couldn’t make the lecture or the charrette, the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies at the University of Iowa has written an article summarizing Kanouse and Krupar’s project: How should the Cold War be memorialized?
The exhibition, housed at Figure One on 116 N. Walnut in downtown Champaign, will run through November 30.
