ARTivism: Valentines for Puerto Rico Fundraiser
Presented by the Union for Puerto Rican Students (UPRS) and the UIC Latino Cultural Center
Support Earthquake relief efforts for Puerto Rico by creating messages of love for families in the island. Donations and Valentines cards will be delivered by a delegation traveling to Puerto Rico this week!
Donations will support the "3R's for Puerto Rico: Rescue, Relief, Rebuild"fundraising campaign launched by the Puerto Rican Agenda of Chicago, which provides immediate relief to those affected by natural disasters in Puerto Rico.
Donation: $5 (Cash or Credit) for art supplies while they last

Civic Cinema and One Earth Film Festival: How to let go of the world and love all the things climate can't change
Presented by the UIC Latino Cultural Center, the Office of Sustainability, and One Earth Film Festival
Director Josh Fox continues in his deeply personal style, investigating climate change – the greatest threat our world has ever known. Traveling to 12 countries on 6 continents, the film acknowledges that it may be too late to stop some of the worst consequences and asks, What is it climate change can't destroy? What is so deep within us that no calamity can take it away? Join us as we dive into these questions and find out how to advocate for our communities!

Students will explore El Despertar de las Américas (The Awakening of the Americas) mural, and the rich community stories shared though the art.
Arts-Based Civic Dialogues
Through art, objects, and personal stories, students will learn from diverse perspectives and link course material to pressing social and environmental issues.
Choose from two dialogue options: Im/migration OR Environmental and Climate Justice.
