Construction continues, with potential occupancy by the iSchool as early as fall 2021. The next phase of planning will identify which faculty and staff may be housed in the new space and determine furniture and equipment needs.
Dean Santos, Linda Smith, Christine Hopper, and Tad Schroeder are collaborating with others in the iSchool and obtaining feedback to inform the decision-making process. Tad serves as the liaison with the Office of the Provost, represented by Associate Director for Capital Planning Brian Bundren, and the architect, Antunovich Associates.
Progress to date includes:
- The overall project is nearly two-thirds finished, with design decisions such as the color scheme, audiovisual package, and electrical work completed.
- The floor plan includes cubicles, offices, conference and multipurpose rooms, research labs, resource centers, common and gathering spaces, and two cafés.
Regularly scheduled construction walkthroughs by Tad, Brian Bundren, and Antunovich Associates will begin this month. These walkthroughs will provide the opportunity to take new photos that will accompany updates to be shared with the iSchool community in the spring semester. The current collection of photos (located in Box) highlights demolition and construction work. In addition, the final construction plans for the 4th and 5th floors are available; furniture placement in these plans is for illustrative purposes only.
