Our research began at The University of Illinois 2020 Faculty Retreat: Harnessing the Science of Emotion to Spark Learning. We won a grant to sponsor research in The Program in Professional Writing's BTW 250 courses, which we administered, with a cohort of five instructors, in Academic Year 2020-21. Here you will find our grant proposal and the questionnaires our students and instructors completed. Our methods can be best described as experience sampling, asking students to record their emotions while they completed writing tasks.
