Alumna and Brazilian Juliana Sandri completed her online Ed.D. in Human Resources Development (EPOL) while working in a high-level government position. While not easy, she says doing so allowed her to get the best of each perspective.
What did you enjoy most about your online degree program experience at Illinois?
"The best thing about the online program was to be able to study and work at the same time, applying in real time the knowledge I was acquiring. The combination of both allowed me to get the best of each perspective."
What were you doing before your online degree program at UIUC?
"Before entering the program I was the Head of Training of Banco central do Brasil (Central Bank of Brazil)."
Why did you choose your program and Education at Illinois?
"Working for the government of my hometown country, the program allowed me to have high quality education without leaving Brazil. The combination of practice and theory was always essential for me, and the College of Education at UIUC provided me that.
"It was a period of great dedication and learning. Having experienced professors and colleagues from all around the world enriched my experience as a student. It was not always easy, I confess. But now I am proud of myself to hold this degree."
What are you doing now, and how has your online degree experience helped you?
"Currently I am the Head of Conduct Supervision of the Brazilian financial system. More than the theory learned, the program helped me to overcome barriers, to think in perspective, and to be persistent."
