The Illinois Department of Public Health’s Office of Women’s Health and Family Services is seeking an intern to support communications and infrastructure development between public health programs and maternal and child health (MCH) clinicians across the state. This opportunity is ideal for a medical student interested in understanding the intersection of public health programming and clinical care in maternal and child health. The intern will help build a pathway to enhance communication and collaboration between the State and clinical providers, particularly those working in MCH. This includes supporting the development of a provider-focused communications strategy, online resources, and engagement tools.
Responsibilities
- Support infrastructure development for communication between IDPH and maternal and child health clinicians.
- Assist in creating a robust, specialty-specific listserv of clinical providers across Illinois.
- Help develop an online hub on the IDPH website to showcase the Office of Women’s Health and Family Services’ programs and initiatives relevant to clinicians.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather and organize clinical and programmatic information.
- Research and recommend communication strategies to bridge public health programs with frontline clinical practice.
- Participate in strategy meetings and contribute to long-term planning efforts to enhance provider engagement.
Qualifications
- Current MD student at the University of Chicago.
- Interest in maternal and child health, public health systems, or health communications.
- Strong organizational and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a hybrid environment.
Duration and Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship with flexible scheduling options to accommodate academic commitments. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution's guidelines. This is a hybrid opportunity for 15 hours a week.
