We need your support! University Payroll & Benefits (UPB) is tracking an unprecedented volume of pay adjustments requested via the Payroll Adjustment Request Interface System (PARIS). Nearly a half million adjustments were processed by UPB in the years 2016 through 2023. Since adjustments require manual review and processing by UPB, the current volume has reached an unsustainable pace for UPB to process within the current published Adjustment Schedules. Over the next few months, UPB would like to provide units an opportunity to share their thoughts about why there is this alarming trend. Specifically, units with the highest volume of Current Pay Adjustments (CPA) and the highest volume of Prior Under Payment Adjustments (PUA) will be contacted by UPB to brainstorm solutions that will have an immediate impact on reducing the number of adjustments. Additionally, UPB with the support from Human Resources, will establish focus groups at each university for the purpose of identifying the most common reasons for the high volume of adjustments. After meeting with units and getting a better understanding of the reasons contributing to the significant increase in PUAs and CPAs, we will work together to come up with needed solutions as well as identify specific goals to reduce the number of pay adjustments.
