If an employee is enrolled in an HSA and they enroll in Medicare, even if it is part A only, they are no longer eligible to contribute towards their HSA. The employee will need to go to the MyBenefits website and change their contribution amount to zero.
If ineligible contributions have already been deducted from their paycheck, the participant will need to have that amount returned to them from Optum Financial using the Excess Contribution Removal Form. This form can be retrieved on the Optum Financial website optum.com.
